The Silver Spur Riding Club

HAPPENINGS     ....WE  ARE INVITED!

We often receive dates and events from fellow equine enthusiasts for events planned in our community.

These are not Silver Spur Events but our members have been graciously invited to participate.

                                             Parrot Refuge
                                                Call for Help!

Hi Everyone, I have a special request from "Donkey Sue", (her words not mine) Sue Birkett, a club member who lives in Virginia Estates.  She has recently become aware of a big problem at the Parrot Refuge.  It seems they have enough bags of plastic toys and stuffies that were left by the people who dropped off their parrots to the sanctuary, to fill two garages.  They, unfortunately, are not in a garage. They are sitting in huge unsightly piles (in plastic bags)  where everyone coming and going have to look at. This includes all tourists to visit our area.

Sue's idea was to meet at 11:00 am next Wednesday, March 10th with your pick-up and horse trailer and $20.00 in your pocket.  We would load all the toys up and drive in a convoy to the transfer station on Church Road and drop it all off. This would be a great feel-good project for everyone and of great environmental benefit.

I realize that a lot of you will have kids home next week, what a great way to show them a way to help their community and the envoronment.  There will also be an opportunity for everyone to tour the place free of charge.

Hope lots of you can make it, maybe we can get enough trucks to finish the job in one round.

Interested?    let us tell you more.....

We are up to date on our teeth, farrier, & worming.  Our farrier, Alex Hamilton, comes with us and will continue to donate her services as she cares very much about us.  We have lived in paddocks but prefer the herd life.  We have excellent ground manners and big hearts. We would love to stay together as we are best friends.

Are you patient, loving & kind? Do you understand sensitive thoroughbreds?
We would love to be a member of your family.
If you give us time you will be able to ride us but we haven't done much since our racetrack days & they weren't much fun.

We are available for adoption immediately by donation to Mary's Farm (to an approved home only)

Please contact Mary Rostad at 250-478-4116  cell 250-217-8187  and please forward this e-mail!  Thank-you!
