Silver Spur  Riding Club

We will be having a Halloween get together at the Donkey farm ( corner of Sunking Rd/Virginia rd ) in Virginia Estates. If you don't have a carved pumpkin for the pumpkin carving contest (trophy) you can come early to carve one there, some pumpkins will be supplied.  Costume class to be judged @ 11:00 in the ring (trophy!)  and  the ride right after.

 Pot luck lunch will be @ 1:30  ..... bring enough to share.....  Refreshments will be provided. Drive through the riding ring for lots of parking and turn around room in the field.

Saturday's ride is suitable for barefoot horses as most of the trails

are soft single track in the forest. For those who were on the Chili

Chilly Ride, some of the same trails but lots of new vistas especially

in the Poplar Plantation, and you will be traveling in the opposite

direction on the trails used for that earlier ride. Between 1 1/2 to 2

1/4 hours depending on whether you turn back to the Ride Site early.

Silver Spur Riding Club October 31st Ride route:

Start - the back end of Sue and Mark’s farm onto Pierpont then left/north onto Dingo

Road into the Clear Cut. Then left on the trail, across the little bridge and angling over

to the top end of the Highway Bridge over French Creek. Then right/east, along the

top of the Highway all the way along to Bentridge, then the perimeter trail along the

edge of the forest to Addison Main, the extension of Sun King within the Woodlot.

Across Addison Main and heading towards the Poplar Forest. As soon as we are in

the Poplar forest we will turn left and take the new perimeter trail, following along the

far fence line then meeting up with the more traveled new trail back to the road within

the plantation. Then left again along the road and back towards the old railway track

and then right along the trail by Highway 4 towards Halona. Once we get back on the

gravel road that leads to the gate in front of Dr. Doug’s we will turn right and head

back to the western edge of the Poplar forest and then north along the new trail to Sun

King (by the new subdivision).

Those people who wish to go back to the Farm can do so, the rest of us will head back

down Addison main and take the perimeter trails counter clockwise around

Morningstar Creek, then back west doubling back along the top of the new highway to

Shawn Road, then onto Pierpont and back to the Farm.

This for the most part will be in the opposite direction of travel taken for the Chili

Chilly Ride.
