ETRA Pledge Ride Sunday, June 23rd Coombs Fairgrounds

Registration begins at 9:30 and ride-out starts at 10:00 am. Riders will mount in the Fairgrounds and ride through a path behind some buildings to access the light to cross the highway. There will be volunteers on the ground to assist with crossing so riders will not need to dismount. Riders will head towards the trails via the RDN Parksville Rail Trail – distance is about 1.5 kms. Riders are asked to keep the pace at a walk along the RDN trail – as requested by the RDN. Also requested by the RDN is poop pick-up – this will be managed by both ETRA and Silver Spur volunteers. Once clear of the Rail Trail, you have an option of choosing various trails depending on how long you want to ride for. You will be provided with a detailed MAP with ride-out instructions and trail information. The BBQ will commence at approximately 1:00 pm to accommodate those who want the longer ride. 5 top awards for collecting the most pledges by individuals and other prize giving will begin at 2:00 pm. Which horse club will win the Trophy this year for the most Pledges? Silver Spur currently holds this honour. The contest is ON!

Rookie Rider:  This is an exciting new project we would like to implement to get young children (5 - 12) in the community more physically active through the use of horses.  We are creating a committee to get started.  We already have a qualified instructor, Carol Stewart, and are hoping to have everyone ready and organised to run the 6 - 12 week program next spring, 2020.  Please contact Carol if you would be interested in helping, her email is xew@shaw.ca.

Initiated by Equine Canada as a national program see more at HCBC:
